Nathan's Primary Age Training Questionnaire
(Feel free to cut and paste as necessary)
I am looking to discover what practice has been going on in other institutions, so that we may build upon the existing knowledge base, and set the research in some kind of local/national/international context.
I would be extremely grateful if you could spare a few moments to answer the following questions:
1. What age range does your organization cater for in their travel training programmes?
A:
2. If you have travel trained young children could you indicate how many you have trained in Yr7 and how many you have of Primary School age? Please include successfully trained students and those that did some training but never completed.
YR 7 (12yrs old): Successful? ... Not Successful? ... Primary age (11yrs and below): Successful? ... Not Successful? ...
3. If there were any that didn?t complete their training, what were the reasons for this?
A:
4. If you have successfully travel trained any younger children (pre-yr7), have you evaluated the travel training of younger children in terms of length of programme (i.e. did they take longer?), parental attitudes, and difficulties experienced which directly resulted from them being younger (perhaps vulnerability, or road awareness?)
A:
5. If you haven?t trained any young children (pre-secondary), have you considered it? What were your reasons for not doing it? What barriers do you think there are to travel training younger children?
A:
6. Please feel free to add any further comments. Any opinions you have regarding travel training for children pre-secondary school, ideas you have concerning developing young children?s independence, or sources of information/further contacts regarding independence skills/travel training with younger children, would be gratefully received.
A:
7. Do you give consent for the any information you provide to be used in the research project, and your organizations contact details to be included in an appendix containing travel training organizations?
Please delete as necessary: Yes/No
Thank you for your time, keep up the good work everyone.
This project is scheduled for completion on the 22nd April. If you would like to receive any further information, or request the completed paper please let me know and I would be happy to answer any queries or forward you a copy.
